The shame of the nations.

Empty promises; when lives are in danger..Shame on these nations.

Loud boasts that are not fulfilled.

And money given that does not reach these terrible needs. Inhumanity.

Which is what deters many from giving.

Issues of trust.

A lady last week told us how her now aged mother knitted dozens, hundreds of the tiny vests that Mother Teresa's order appealed for. It would break her heart to know that these piled up in warehouses. And never reached the wee ones. The daughter knows that now; and that eg the shoe boxes that are such a popular thing are raided at customs.

As we said, the only goods that reach their destination safely are those taken to eg Europe by Irish lorry drivers who give their time and lorries to take loads out; they would protect the goods with their lives.. The lady had seen these men , big lads, preparing for their journeys. Few would argue with them...

And as we explain so often, this is why we do not send goods out.... and that this is why we sell at markets.. And that money given to us, for goods or for love, is safe and will reach the most needy speedily.. we take no wages.

We do not simply hold out a begging bowl ; folk buy something beautiful and hand made and that purchase delights and feeds our wee ones.

So we work on now in the darkening autumn days when rain threatens and wind can topple awnings and large umbrellas.
Leaving in the early darkness now.

Our newest "line' is luxurious mohair scaves, rich and long and fringed, in glowing colours.. walking round the market with a couple draped over the arm soon sells them. Warm and soft as clouds. Utter luxury...

Please, give, but carefully and thoughtfully. It is the small groups like us who give all that is given to us. We keep that promise faithfully and fully..... All we sell is hand made in prayer and in the love of Jesus.

Blessings this grey autumn day....
